Connect Accord to Slack

Connect your Accord to a Slack channel to keep your team members in-the-know of what's happening within your Accord partnership plan.

Prerequisites & Permissions

  • Only workspace admins can connect your Accord workspace to your Slack instance. Check your permissions before following the setup instructions below.
  • Your Slack administrator might need to approve the integration to Accord. Depending on the security settings in Slack, approval from an administrator might be required for configuration.

Enabling the Slack Integration

In order to allow your Accord workspace members to connect their Accords to Slack channels, the integration must be enabled. To enable the Slack integration, simply:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Click Integrations on the navigation bar on your left-hand side
  3. Select Connect next to Slack


Once that's done, Slack will ask for your permission to post the webhook updates to the Slack channel of your choice. Select a Slack channel and click "Allow" to enable the Slack integration:

 

The Slack authentication screen will ask for your permission to post to a specific Slack channel. You can select any channel.

Once permission has been given to post on one Slack channel, your Accord workspace users will be able to connect their Accords to any Slack channel.

You will not be limited to the selected channel on this authentication screen.

Connecting an Accord to a Slack Channel

Once the integration has been enabled by an Accord workspace admin, any Accord user will be able to connect an Accord to a Slack channel.

In order to connect an Accord to a Slack channel, simply:

  1. Navigate to an Accord
  2. Select ⋮ in the top-right hand corner and click Edit Details
  3. Select the Slack channel that you want to connect this Accord to in the Slack Channels dropdown menu

Types of Notifications on Slack Through Accord

Accord will post the following notifications to the connected Slack channel once the connection has been established:

  1. A new customer or team member is invited to the Accord
  2. A new customer or team member has accepted their invitation to the Accord
  3. A new customer has joined the Accord through an approved domain
  4. Any customer or team member has commented on a Step
  5. A Step has been assigned to a new owner
  6. A Step has been marked as complete

Additional Configurations

Accord workspace admins have the ability to make further customizations to the types of notifications sent by Accord to connected Slack channels.

For example, if the plan is to connect Accords to Slack channels that are shared with customers, notifications about internal Step updates should be turned off.

To access these customizations, simply:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Select Integrations in the navigation bar in your left-hand side
  3. Next to Slack, select Manage

Internal Step Updates: Toggle on/off notifications about Steps that are internal-only.
User Activities: Toggle on/off notifications about user activity (e.g. John Smith viewed the Summary page).
